The College of St Hild and St Bede is one of the oldest and biggest colleges in Durham - it has beautiful and extensive grounds, and some of the most jaw-dropping views in the city. Sitting on neither the Hill nor the Bailey, Hild Bede is Durham’s only river college; our temporary location at Rushford Court, within a short walking distance of the city centre, additionally provides students with an excellent location and fantastic facilities while our Riverside site is being refurbished.

Hild Bede is not just a set of beautiful buildings, however - within them there is a thriving college community that you can become a part of, making it a second home to many! You will remain a member of college throughout your time at Durham and, in many cases, beyond - and Hild Bede is happy to be a part of it.

During your time at Hild Bede, you will be represented by the SRC (Student Representatives' Council), Hild Bede's student organisation. It is through the SRC that you can join college sports and societies, and get involved in a host of fantastic social events.
