Rowing
Hild Bede Boat Club is one of the largest clubs in Hild Bede, and the finest college boat club Durham has to offer. HBBC offers the opportunity for people to row at all levels from, complete novice to competitive rowing on a national stage, providing a great alternative to the demands of University level rowing. Our novice programme caters to people who have never set foot in a rowing boat before, and are coached by rowers in our senior squads. Novices can row to any level they desire, and they have the opportunity to race at novice only events as well as larger events such as Durham regatta. For senior crews, HBBC offers all commitment levels. We welcome rowers who want more casual opportunities to row just once or twice a week, as well as rowers who wish to train everyday as part of our top senior crews. We also welcome coxes, and novice coxes, who may train with us to any level they desire. Training for both novices and seniors at HBBC is tailored to fit around your studies, as well as other clubs and societies, so that training times are suitable for every member of the crew. For those that choose to row competitively, there are races throughout the year, from local college events, to national events. In recent years, HBBC has been represented at events such as BUCS Regatta, men's and women's Head of the River Race, Henley Women’s and Henley Royal Regatta.
